Planning and Preparation: On April 29, 2002, Sauvage Guard held a pre-dragon raid run into dartmoor, to survey the new beast to Albion and his Layer. It was our first step in preparing for an Alliance Dragon Raid. The pre-run was a huge success, counted as likely being our most succesful guild event to that date. Nearly every named mob in dartmoor was killed, 16 prize loot items were distributed and much was learned about the best past route and possible tactics against The dragon.
A Raid is announced: On May 11, 2002, Sauvage Guard announced to the alliance that it would be hosting a dragon raid the following week on May 18. Level 45+ were preferred but the hard cap was level 40. All GM’s and officers were requested to show 30 minutes early for a Command meeting. Leaders lined up, Paladins and Armsmen shined their platemail, and everyone prepared for the fight of a lifetime.
The Dragon is Slain: May 18, 2002, Saturday night, in the depths of Dartmoor, past the burnt remains of the forest, in a ruined old castle, a great conflict was held. An army of Albions lead by Sauvage Guard waged war against the Dragon of Albion. The foul beast flew into the sky and breathed his breath of fire upon our proud warriors. But we regained out strength and charged bravely into the ruined castle, a savage fight ensued. In the end, the Dragon was slain. He's bloody body laid sprawled across a great mound of treasure.
